Fall in the Moosehead Lake Area
FALL FOLIAGE
From mid September till mid October, our area is abundant with color. The warm days and cool nights are a favorite with many and scenic hikes and waterfalls are a short distance away.
FISHING
Fall fishing action on Moosehead and is good, with the fish beginning to spawn they are again rising to the surface. Rivers and streams also produce some lovely fish and the fall is a favorite time for the fly fisherman on the Moose and Kennebec rivers.
HUNTING
We are located in the heart of a wildlife region considered to be one of the best hunting grounds in the East. Large tracts of uninhabitated forests with hardwood ridges and small cedar and fir swamps provide excellent cover for game while abandoned logging roads give hunters access to this back country. For big game, the whitetail deer stands supreme with many reaching world-trophy class. Deer archery season is the month of October, deer firearms November, black bear season September through November and partridge the month of October. Partridge, king of Maine game birds, can be found in abundance along our abandoned logging roads. Good bird dogs make for sporty shooting but many hunters shoot their limit by "walking them up" along the old roads and trails.
